Fat Gene

| Category: Steaming diets, Weight loss | 2 Comments

Fat Gene There seems to be a paradox nowadays concerning losing weight and being healthy. Like me, you’ve probably wondered at least once why there is no solution to solving the problem of obesity. So many discoveries have been made in the medical field, that this issue should have been handled a long time ago.

Well I think we are at least on the right path. Apparently there is a gene, or at least a mutation of a gene that is responsible for weight problems.

According to William J. Cromie, who wrote about the conclusions (more…)

Snacks: Good or Bad?

| Category: Tips, Weight loss | 2 Comments

Mixed Nuts Snacking is an issue that most of us are confronted with, especially when dieting. I honestly find it really difficult to give up this bad habit so I decided to look for better ways to snack.

Here are some tips I found:

  1. First of all avoid high calories snacks, like chips or sweets that will neither make you feel full nor stop you from wanting more.
  2. Turn snacks into small meals. After all we are supposed to have five or six meals a day according to some nutritionists.
  3. Snack wisely! Choose healthy snacks like those rich in fibers (more…)

Orthorexia Nervosa

| Category: Nutrition, Steaming diets, Strange Diets | 0 Comments

Orthorexia Even though I have spend countless hours doing research and trying to find out the best way to eat, work out and live, it seems that there is always something new I wasn’t aware of. I have to tell you that I have recently came across something I had no idea existed. I know that there are several eating disorders like anorexia, bulimia and so on, but did you know that there is a new one caused by knowing too much? Well it is not all about knowing, it is more about trying to know, checking everything you eat and how much you eat.

Most specialists define this new condition, orthorexia nervosa, as an obsession. The term has been chosen in connection (more…)

Dieting with Bill Clinton

| Category: Celebrities, Diets | 0 Comments

Bill Clinton I recently saw an interview on CNN where Bill Clinton, the former US president, explained how he lost weight following a really strict diet (in my opinion). In his case it was something necessary, since he admitted having undergone a quadruple bypass surgery. The fact that he needed to have a stent put in forced him to do some research of his own to find out what is the healthiest way to live for people with his health condition.

Bill Clinton decided to go vegan and cut out of his diet all meats and all dairy products, forcing him to have a mainly plant based diet. (more…)

Exercise With Your Pet

Running dog
Until a few years ago I wasn’t much of a pet lover. Things changed drastically when I got a puppy for my birthday. I soon found out that not only was it a great companion but it also helped me fight my weight problems.

Everything happened so naturally that I didn’t even realize I had replaced a sedentary life with one where walking and running were so much fun. We all know that working out is crucial for a healthy life, but doing the same type of exercise can become (more…)

Is Your Diet Giving You Headaches?

| Category: Diets, Motivation, Nutrition | 2 Comments

Headache I know most of you have bad headaches even when you hear the word “diet”. This is because many people associate dieting with depriving themselves from so many aliments that are responsible with vitamins and essential nutriments intake.

As usually, a little bit of research can open your eyes and make you realize what is the cause of  feeling like that and what you are doing wrong. Here are a few motives for your headaches:

  1. Low blood sugar. It has been scientifically proven that there is a strong connection between headaches and low blood sugar. However, (more…)

Salads: Fun or Frustrating?

| Category: Motivation, Nutrition | 0 Comments

Corn salad bowl Each time I think about dieting I imagine stuffing myself with salads until I probably turn green. Or at least this is how I used to think. There was a time, when I wasn’t as ‘smart’ as I am now, when simply seeing raw vegetables made me sick immediately. I think you know that feeling. I mean you cannot go on eating the same things over and over again. And on top of all these I didn’t even loose weight. Imagine how frustrating it was!

At that moment I decided it was time to do a little bit of research to see what went wrong. I am going to share my findings with you, so you don’t (more…)

Detoxification Myth

| Category: Nutrition | 5 Comments

Detox beetroot juice Detoxification is a term widely used by nutritionists. I know you’re probably aware of what it stands for, and if not, you can always check it out in a dictionary or in an encyclopedia like Wikipedia. But, in reality, the tricky thing is finding out why you should undergo your body through such a process.

There are many opinions pro and con this procedure. Is it a myth or does it really help you become healthier, fitter and live longer? Well I wasn’t really sure of what the right answer is, so I decided to (more…)
