Yesterday at my local gym, I was doing my regular exercises, minding my own business, but there was a man of about 45 years old “coaching” (I mean supervising not to hit anyone) his son of 10. OK, this is strange too, but there is something else I want to talk about.
This man was watching me and kept telling me all the time “that’s not good for you”, “you’re waisting you’re time”, “you’re pushing too much”, “don’t stay like that”, “do like this”. The bottom line was that he wanted to tell me that no matter what I do there (in the gym) I will not lose weight unless I will eat exclusively chicken sup for as long as it takes to lose all the fat. Usually people don’t just wake up and say “Starting with today I’m going to eat healthier and I’m going to exercise more”. No! This is happening most of the time without even realizing it.
You just feel better eating a grilled chicken breast than a portion of French fries and then you feel like taking a walk to the grocery store or like getting down from the bus 2 stations earlier and walk home.
The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services has a list with the small steps you can do to lose weight. I haven’t realized how many things I am already doing without any effort.
I wrote in bold the steps I took until now and I’m a little bit over 50 % with 61.
This is good, I would say, taking into consideration that I live in an apartment and I don’t have kids (to play with) or a dog (to walk).
So what’s your “score” on the small steps to lose weight list?
- Walk to work.
- Use fat free milk over whole milk. (more…)

In the past few weeks I was not very active here on DietMotion, but I wanted to tell you all that this is not permanent and I’ll be back in a couple of days.
I started a few extra projects that I must take care of, I started writing on Diet-blog.com (my articles are signed with Gabriela Cretan) and I also started going to the gym.
I have 3 weeks now of running and weight lifting and I feel great. I workout 4-5 time a week, I alternate cardio exercises with weight lifting and in (more…)

I have 2 weeks now since I restarted my diet program and it’s the first time I said to myself I would have an intense fitness program as well. I’m going to the gym 5 time a week, I maintain my daily calorie intake at 1200-1400 calories, but I need to keep a good track of what I’m doing.
I searched for what I need, I came across My Fitness Pal and I though I shear it with you.
What I like about it:
- With the calorie counter* you just enter the food and it will return the calories, carbs, the fats and the proteins.
- You can always see what’s the remaining calorie number (more…)

- 145 pounds x 15 = 2175 calories

The cut down calories intake diet (or plan) is purely mathematics! 1 kg (2 pounds) of body fat has around 7800 calories, so in order to have a healthy weight loss of 1-2 pound/week you should reduce you calorie intake with 3600-7800/week. If we divide this by 7 it will result 514-1114, but let’s not get dizzy with all those numbers and stick to 500-1000 calories deficit.
I mentioned before how to set a realistic weight loss goal, so all you have to do is:
- get a scale and see how much you weight; (more…)

I’m already in my second day of The Atkins Diet and everything is ok. I had my blood tests 1 month ago, I take mineral supplements, antioxidants, fibers supplements and an Omega-3 fatty acid complex. I feel good, I’m not hungry and I am satisfied with my meals.
I can see now that I eat less than I used to, so I will lose weight from eating less calories also.
If you are thinking about starting Atkins too, you should know the basics of The Induction Phase:
- Eat three regular-size meals a day or four or five smaller meals.
- Eat liberally of combinations of fat and protein in the form of poultry, fish, shellfish, eggs and red meat, as well as of pure, natural fat in the form of butter, mayonnaise, olive oil, safflower, sunflower and other vegetable oils (preferably expeller-pressed or cold-pressed).
- Eat no more than 20 grams a day of carbohydrate, most of which must come in the form of salad greens and other vegetables. You can eat approximately three cups-loosely packed-of salad, or two cups of salad plus one cup of other vegetables. (more…)

Well, you’re here (good for you
) and I think you know why, so I will skip this part. The important thing is that I will try to write valuable information about what’s important and what’s new in diets and how you can live a healthy life, so all you have to do is keep reading (adding a feed would help you with that).
