In a previous article we’ve mentioned the possible side effects of both prescription diet pills and over the counter pills.
Most herbal weight loss supplements producers claim that their products are completely safe simply because they are entirely natural.
Unfortunately, not all herbals are safe for our health as there are many plants that if consumed even in the smallest quantities can cause serious health problems and even poisoning.
This doesn’t mean that all herbal weight loss supplements are poisonous but some of them can cause allergies and can interact with other types (more…)

How would you feel if I told you there could be a drug to help you loose 11% of your body fat in the first month?
I would feel interested to hear more, but I would have doubts.
This drug is not yet available, but researchers at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston recently got to an important milestone for the drug they were testing since 2004.
They gave monkeys a drug, called adipotide, that targets the blood supply to fat cells and kills them.
After only 28 daily injections of the drug the monkeys lost an (more…)

Ever since I was little I was taught by my mother that it’s good to drink a lot of milk in order to have healthy bones.
That’s because calcium was thought to be the king of minerals.
However, lately I’ve come across other studies which suggest that calcium intake may not be all that efficient or good.
1. Greater amounts of calcium do not lessen the risk of fractures
Calcium certainly is vital for bone growth and development. The daily necessary amount of this mineral is of about 700 mg. While (more…)

I remember my mother used to give me fish oil supplements from time to time when I was little.
She said I would get smarter if I took them.
I decided to do a little bit of research on the subject, and tell you which are the supplements that are good for us:
Fish oil
This is indeed called “brain food”, but not necessarily because it makes you smarter, but because it fights against dementia, Alzheimer’s, (more…)

You can find them at your local store, at a supermarket, at a health food store or online. They promise to help you lose weight and keep you healthy at the same time.
That’s why more and more people tend to choose them, thinking that if they contain natural ingredients they can be a safe alternative to diet pills. But are they?
What people don’t know is that these pills and supplements are still drugs and can be as harmful as diet pills or even more. That’s why their use should be closely monitored by a doctor. Some of them may contain very harmful substances, (more…)

With so many alternatives available on the market, it’s quite hard not to fall under the temptation of trying diet pills.
They all claim to help you lose weight easily and fast, but how safe are they?
If you don’t know, here are some things you should consider before trying them:
- Diet pills are mostly recommended to obese persons, the ones that have tried to lose weight in many other ways, without success, leaving no other alternative (more…)

A few weeks ago I was asked by Amanda Nelson from Rocket XL if I want to take part at a special testing of a new weight loss product, called Sensa. At first I was skeptical, I visited Sensa’s official web site, I read different opinions and in the end I said “Why not?”.
There are special incentives for you, offered by the producer. Based on the most dramatic change, 3 winners will be selected to win an additional 6-month supply of Sensa and other beauty products. All you have to do is send me “before” and “after” photos (more…)

What is L-Carnitine?
L-carnitine is made in the body from the amino acids lysine and methionine, and is needed to release energy from fat. It transports fatty acids into mitochondria, the powerhouses of cells. In special situations of high energy needs, such as pregnancy or intense body exercise, the need for L-carnitine can exceed the production of the body, therefore, L-carnitine is considered a “conditionally essential” nutrient. It is also known to improve the sportsmen performance and ti reduce body fat if it exceeds the body’s need.
Where is it found?
It can be naturally found in dairy and red meat, therefore, people (more…)
