| Category: Diets | 0 Comments

Chicken saladHappiness is a blissful state which we experience from time to time and which we constantly search.

Most people try to be happy by performing various activities that they find pleasant and self-fulfilling.

Fad Diets – False Claims

| Category: Diets | 2 Comments

No fad dietsWe know that fad diets are the least healthy choices when it comes to weight loss.

Unfortunately people still choose them and risk serious health problems.

One of the major disadvantages of these diets is the yo-yo effect which makes people gain much more weight than they manage to lose.

In some cases people suffer from sever deficiencies and anemia which leads to failures of the organs in the worst scenarios.

However, the creators of the fad diets attract adepts through some unrealistic promises that desperate people actually believe to be true. Here are just some examples:

1. Lose up to 20 pounds in just one week. This cannot possibly be true. The explanation is actually very simple. Think about how much time you (more…)

Adipotide, The New Weight Loss Pill

| Category: Diet Pills, Weight loss | 0 Comments

Softgel capsuleHow would you feel if I told you there could be a drug to help you loose 11% of your body fat in the first month?

I would feel interested to hear more, but I would have doubts.

This drug is not yet available, but researchers at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston recently  got to an important milestone for the drug they were testing since 2004.

They gave monkeys a drug, called adipotide, that targets the blood supply to fat cells and kills them.

After only 28 daily injections of the drug the monkeys lost an (more…)

The Drinking Man’s Diet Or Danger?

| Category: Diets | 0 Comments

Wine bottlesWhen I fist heard about the Drinking Man’s Diet I thought it was a joke.

How could someone promote drinking alcohol on a daily basis after and during each meal?

I said to myself that this is insane and that no one could even consider such a life style.

Well, apparently I was wrong. The Drinking Man’s Diet was sold in millions of copies. It is true that it was first published in 1964, but so many copies sold sounds surreal.

Nutritionists say that this is the first low carbohydrates diet and set the bases for future diets of this type like the Atkins. This is obviously a fad diet but some of the principles do make sense. A diet that promotes low carbs (more…)

Are You Old Enough To Diet?

| Category: Diets | 1 Comment

Girl on dietI remember I used to be a chubby girl when I was a teenager, the chubbiest in my group of friends, which was really frustrating for me: having to put up with the mean jokes, never wearing the same clothes as my friends did and so on.

This is why I decided to start a diet.

Trying a healthy approach to weight loss seemed like too much effort and too much time when my biggest dream was to look good in a mini skirt or a tight t-shirt.

So my first thought was to find a short and effective diet. We all know how easy it is to find fad diets on the internet, but little did I know back (more…)

5 Good Things About The Paleo Diet

| Category: Diets | 0 Comments

SeedsThe Paleo Diet is supposed to be the diet that resembles the way our ancestors used to eat.

It is based on eating mostly lean meats, seafood, vegetables, fruits and nuts, most of them in their natural state.

Nevertheless, this diet is the most controversial one: it has been ranked as one of the worst diets by a 2011 survey of experts, by US News and World Report and has also received a lot of criticism.

Nutritionists and doctors argue that the modern Paleo diet might pose health risks and does not accurately reflect the ancient Paleolithic diets. That (more…)

The Blood Type Diet

| Category: Diets | 0 Comments

Blood type diet ‘Eat right for your type‘ is the motto of this diet, created by Dr. Peter D’Adamo.

I must say I’ve always been quite skeptical about this diet but after doing a little bit of research I changed my mind at least partially.

Although he was criticized by many doctors and nutritionists because he doesn’t have enough scientific support to prove his theory, I must say that I have been quite intrigued by it and, like many others, I believe that his arguments might be partially realistic.

The key of this diet is the genetic heritage, which is known to influence our overall health, especially the illnesses we might suffer from. Since we (more…)

The Jenny Craig Diet

| Category: Diets | 0 Comments

Jenny Craig
U.S. News has published not long ago a ranking of the best diets which should be used for losing weight.

The Jenny Craig diet came in second, outranked only by Weight Watchers.

What is this diet all about?

Well, from what I’ve found out, it’s more of a program than a diet, just like Weight Watchers.

More than that, it’s a program with tradition, as it dates back to 1983 in Australia. It focuses on the following:

Eating prepackaged meals

Most of the meals recommended by the Jenny Craig diet are frozen (more…)

| Category: Celebrities, Diets | 0 Comments

Miranda KerrAlthough she never had serious weight issues, being an international supermodel means having to make a lot of sacrifices to maintain a perfectly fit figure.

Miranda has managed for years to keep a slender and fit look; moreover, just two months after giving birth, she returned on the catwalk looking better than ever.
