I must confess that I haven’t heard about pescetarianism until a few days ago.
But if you are a vegetarian than maybe you’re familiar with it.
Pescetarianism is practically a diet based on eating only fish instead of other types of meat.
This is why it is often used as a transition period by vegetarians and vegans.
The pescetarian diet typically includes all types of fish and seafood, vegetables, fruits, grains, eggs and some people also add dairies to (more…)

Rules were made to be broken, some people would say.
We’ve talked a lot about what to do and not to do during a diet, what to eat and when and how to avoid certain eating mistakes.
However, some widespread diet rules are more harmful when followed than when they are broken.
1. Fight off your cravings
Fighting off your cravings and giving up on your favorite dishes can be harmful for your diet. That is because we always crave for things we can’t (more…)

Invented by author and raw food chef Paul Nison, The Daylight Diet is meant to do more than help us lose weight.
As Paul himself says, when we eat is just as important as what we eat.
Healthy foods can not only help us lose weight but also maintain our bodies healthy and aid our immune system in the fight with certain diseases.
The main principles of this diet are:
Say no to eating after sunset
As its title says, the first thing we should do is to try to eat only during daylight. Our bodies are designed to digest food better during the (more…)

I remember my mother used to give me fish oil supplements from time to time when I was little.
She said I would get smarter if I took them.
I decided to do a little bit of research on the subject, and tell you which are the supplements that are good for us:
Fish oil
This is indeed called “brain food”, but not necessarily because it makes you smarter, but because it fights against dementia, Alzheimer’s, (more…)

The New Year came with many resolutions, new trends in lifestyle and also new diets, meant to replace the old ones and reinvent the concept of dieting.
One of them is the 17 days diet, invented by Dr. Mike Moreno.
The diet is supposed to make us get rid of the belly and visceral fat fast and the effects should last for a long period of time.
Basically, it’s more than a diet. It’s a simple plan designed to make us eat healthier and change our bad habits. Although it is called (more…)

There is a says that I like: we are shaped by our thoughts.
In that case, I try to think about myself as nicely as possible.
Only that sometimes, an extra bite of anything can get be moody. Sounds familiar?
Mayo Clinic preventive medicine specialist, Donald Hensrud, claims that the main reason why we feel down when dieting is because we fail to manage our weight correctly and to dose our efforts, mentally. He says it all in a book written by the Mayo Clinic staff called “Eat well. Enjoy life. Lose weight.”
Hensrud believes that if we want to start a diet, we must start it (more…)

I’ve come to realize that the process of losing weight is somewhat like fighting and recovering from a disease.
Consequently, you need all the help you can get. Friends play an important role when you’re on a diet and trying to escape the curse of the scales.
But what to do when there’s nobody there for you or they’re too busy with their own lives.
Well, somebody thought about that, of course, and came up with (more…)

I’ve been a vegetarian for quite a long time.
However, I realized that eating meat is not entirely bad. I avoid pork and beef, but I occasionally eat chicken and quite often fish and seafood.
My vegetarian friends tell me I betrayed them. But I recently found out that this type of diet, which combines the vegetarian one with sometimes eating meat, actually has a name: the Flexitarian Diet.
In fact, even the name is self-explanatory: flexitarian comes from (more…)
