I’ve always been a fan of jogging: it’s easy, it’s fun, it’s effective, it doesn’t cost anything-except for the equipment and a right pair of shoes- and you don’t have to go to a gym to do it.
What’s a better way to start the day than with 30 minutes of jogging in the park, enjoying the fresh air and working out at the same time?
We could say that jogging is a type of work out good not only for your body but also for you spirit.
Although I’ve always preferred jogging outside, enjoying the nature, during the cold season I go running at the gym, like most people do. I’ve heard a (more…)

I have several friends who are underweight and who are trying to improve their looks.
Their choice and the advice they received from their training adviser was to try and build muscle.
This means following a tight workout program and, at the same time, eating certain foods which fuel the training sessions.
Which foods are the best for building muscle?
I’ll give you some hints below. In fact, these foods should be eaten not only if you want to gain weight by building muscle, but also when you follow (more…)

Usually, after losing all the extra pounds, people start to be preoccupied with toning and lifting their muscles, especially if the amount of weight they lost is considerable.
A fit and toned body is always more appealing than a slim, but flabby one.
I’ve always dreamed of having flat stomach, that doesn’t look like jelly, with a little bit of muscle mass.
However, some people take this desire to the extremes, often without even realizing it.
Personally, I’ve never liked or wanted to have a body builder’s look (more…)

I think all of us have realized until now that, no matter how much one works out, he/she will never look as a certain actor, actress or other star.
For instance, if you have wide hips, you will never look like Keira Knightley. However, you might come close to Selma Hayek’s body shape.
Where I’m trying to get is that we all have a certain body shape which cannot be tricked into being something else.
This body shape is determined on where fat and muscle is mostly stored – for instance, on our hips, or maybe on our upper back. Genetics play (more…)

As I’ve told you before, I love working out outdoors.
So, as you would expect, summer provides me with a great setting for exercising.
However, not everything is so wonderful.
There are days – especially during July and August – when it’s simply too much to do it: too much sun, too many ultraviolet rays.
So what is there to do? Give up exercising? I think not!
Here are some tricks I use in order to overcome hot summer days: (more…)

It’s getting somewhat uncomfortable to exercise outdoors these days – unless you’re able to do this early in the morning, the temperatures go too high up afterwards.
So, what can we do?
One alternative is going to the pool and cool off.
Nevertheless, as long as you’re there, why not try some water walking? We’ve talked about it before, and I’m coming back with details, as you can have a great workout during hot summer days at the pool by walking.
What you need to do is find that area of the pool where your feet (more…)

I remember when I first went to a gym.
I was so excited. I had just lost a few pounds and I decided it was time to accelerate the process of loosing weight.
So, I asked one of my friends to join me at a gym near home.
I was very glad I did that because by the end of the session I was feeling exhausted that I couldn’t even walk home. I did some of the biggest mistakes a beginner can do.
First of all I didn’t get ready for working out in a gym. I was a complete novice in the area. I didn’t use to do any type of physical exercise at (more…)

Spring is here, but I still cannot exercise outside yet.
It’s not always as warm as I’d like it to be in order to feel comfortable when working out.
In fact, it’s not exactly the cold that gets to me, it’s more the rain which has been nagging me for a while.
So, I decided to do something, in order not to get stiff: exercise indoors, with the help of exercise program.
I’ve identified several DVDs that might work, they all seem trustworthy:
Lean & Chiseled
I loved this DVD from the moment I’ve seen its cover. Its creator, a woman who is both a dancer and a choreographer, first taught Pilates. Nevertheless, (more…)

Thank God is spring!
It’s time we venture outdoors and exercise while breathing fresh air and watch the nature at work.
Mountain board
How about some dirt boarding (aka “mountain board”)?
Based on the same simple principles, this sport is the dirty version of the good old snowboarding.
Put on your worst pair of jeans and a pair of boots and hop on a (more…)

I’ve recently come across this weird looking new workout machine: the Arc Trainer from Cybex.
They dubbed it “The Biggest Looser” because the makers claim it can help you shed out the extra pounds twice times faster than on a treadmill and will less impact on your knees.
Biggest Loser Arc Trainer comes bundled with few top notch features:
- Reverse Arc Motion Technology: higher intensity and bigger calorie burn in the shortest time possible;
- Variable Workouts, with funny named positioned detailed (more…)
