The Diet Pill That Makes You Feel “Full”

LindeEvery dieter knows that when it comes to have a good eating plan, the feel of “fullness” misses and most of the persons come back to the junk food they use to eat.

Yaniv Linde, a 32-year-old Ph.D. student of Prof. Chaim Gilon in the Department of Organic Chemistry at the Hebrew University thought that developing a pill to give you that “fullness” sensation will help a lot of obese people to stay on their diets.

The aMSH hormone is naturally excreted during eating and binds to a receptor in the brain which sends out a signal that one feels “full.” (more…)

My Fitness Pal

My Fitness PalI have 2 weeks now since I restarted my diet program and it’s the first time I said to myself I would have an intense fitness program as well. I’m going to the gym 5 time a week, I maintain my daily calorie intake at 1200-1400 calories, but I need to keep a good track of what I’m doing.

I searched for what I need, I came across My Fitness Pal and I though I shear it with you.

What I like about it:

  1. With the calorie counter* you just enter the food and it will return the calories, carbs, the fats and the proteins.
  2. You can always see what’s the remaining calorie number (more…)

Choosing a Weight-Loss Program

Nessie| Category: Motivation, Weight loss | 0 Comments

During one year, more than half of all Americans go on a diet to lose weight. For many people, it is difficult to lose more than a few pounds, and few succeed in remaining at the reduced weight. The difficulty in losing weight and keeping it off leads many people to turn to a professional or commercial weight loss program for help.

When considering joining a weight loss program, choose wisely. Almost any of the commercial weight loss programs can work but only if they motivate you sufficiently to decrease the amount of calories you eat or increase the amount of calories you burn through physical activity each day (or both).

What should you look for in a weight loss program? (more…)

20 Easy Ways To Stop Snacking

Nessie| Category: Motivation, Tips | 3 Comments

SnaksAbout 2 months ago I found out that snacking was one of the important reasons I was not losing weight at a normal rate, even though I was on diet. I was very frustrated because I though my diet was ok, so there must be something wrong with my metabolism. It turned out I was snacking for about 500 calories/day. This is almost 1/2 of my daily calorie intake while being on a diet. Since I started the cut down calorie plan I’m very careful with what I eat and now I can see the difference.

Here is what you can do to avoid snacking:

  1. be prepared: Don’t let a snack attack take you by surprise (more…)

Diet PiggyAre you trying to lose weight this year, or at least to cut back on snacking? Do you find yourself too often in the kitchen checking “what’s new” in the fridge or in the cupboard? One easy way to stay away from the kitchen is to keep yourself busy.

Finding things to do outside the house or moving in the office during work hours will keep you from getting bored and will hopefully prevent you from “checking” the fridge too often.

However, for a little bit of extra motivation, you might want to consider a little help from your diet friend: The Diet Piggy. It is a small plastic reminder (more…)

Don’t Die For a Diet

Anorexia NervosaHannah Downie, 17, is seriously underweight with less than 6 stone (38 kg), but despite the severity of her condition, doctors are unable to help her because of a lack of services in Scotland.

Faced with the prospect of a daughter who refuses to eat, Barbara Downie, Hannah’s mother, was told by doctors to treat the girl at home.

“I’ve run out of hope,” the mother-of-five said yesterday. “Hannah doesn’t want to eat. She’s admitted she would happily starve herself to death. She needs proper medical help but she’s not getting it. “The NHS doesn’t have enough beds and they’re dragging their heels about getting her into a private clinic.”

Her mother said she noticed a gradual change in her behaviour as she became more quiet and self-conscious. Her weight has now fallen to (more…)

Laughing as a Diet

Laugh

Physical fitness stemming from laughter is a benefit known to few. Scientists estimate that laughing 100 times is equivalent to a 10-minute workout on a rowing machine, or to 15 minutes on a stationary exercise bike.

The act of laughing exercises the diaphragm, as well as the abdominal, respiratory, facial, leg, and back muscles.

Another benefit of laughter is that it improves our over-all mental health. Pent up negative emotions, such as anger, fear, and sadness, can cause biochemical changes in our bodies that can produce a harmful effect.

Sleep Can Make You Thinner

Sleeping CatWhen your body is rested your organs will function more effectively and you will look better and appear thinner, but if you are tired, your kidneys will retain fluid and you will appear fluffy. Sugar, caffeine and refined carbohydrates give you an energy boost, so you tend to eat more and more of that which can result in an extra weight.

If you want to lose that excess weight try to get the right amount of sleep each night. The average adult needs 8 hours sleep a night. People who sleep less than that have a 45% greater risk (more…)
