Taking home a restaurant menu might sound like torture for some of us who are on a diet.
You might think that this way you are going to crave for all the delicious foods from the restaurant even when you are not there.
Well, apparently things are not as you might believe and this could end up being a really positive thing in your fight against extra pounds.
Why? Well, just thinking about this idea popped up two major reasons into my head. Take a look and see if you agree with me:
1. If your favorite restaurant has many unhealthy, but delicious (more…)

When starting a new diet most of us have a goal in mind.
It can be either losing weight or adding some pounds.
However, not many of us choose to talk to a professional before starting the diet which can have as consequence bad diet choices. Why?
- We are not well informed even if when we think we are.
Most of us think that we know what to eat and what to eliminate from our alimentation. The fact is that only a specialist can tell this (more…)

Wanting to help someone you love lose weight can be quite difficult sometimes.
People usually choose to do this in two extreme ways.
They are either too ‘soft’ or too ‘hard’ on the one who needs help.
Neither of the two options seems to be too efficient.
Moreover, they might end up doing more harm than good.
The too soft option might be inefficient because the one who needs to lose weight doesn’t always get the message. If he does get that he needs to lose weight he might think that the issue is not that stringent and might (more…)

I’ve always been under the impression that if I sweat more I lose more weight.
From time to time I go jogging with a friend of mine and I noticed that she sweats more than I do.
Does this mean that she loses more weight than me doing the same type of physical exercise, with almost the same intensity and duration?
I started doing some research to find out if this is possible at all.
Well, apparently it is possible for her to lose more weight because she sweats more. But it isn’t the weight loss I believed it to be. It seems that sweating can help you drop more pounds than if you are not sweating at all, but (more…)

There is an ongoing debate whether it is good to count calories or not during a diet, but also in general.
Some would say that without counting calories one cannot lose weight while others prefer dieting without this constant stress.
However, most diets promote taking informed decisions about the quantity and quality of the food.
Here are some pros and cons for both situations to help you make up your mind:
To Count
- You know exactly how many calories you ingest. If you do not (more…)

How many times have you heard this excuse from your friends: that they can’t lose weight or they gain weight because they have a slow metabolism?
And let’s face, how many times have you used it yourself?
Many people would blame anything for the extra pounds instead of admitting that they don’t eat healthy or don’t exercise enough.
And what’s even sadder is that most of those who use this excuse actually believe it, without even knowing what a slow metabolism actually is.
BMR – the basal metabolic rate
The metabolism is a natural process in which your body converts the (more…)

I’ve stumbled upon some studies which point out that some of ours habits make us eat more that we need, consequently making us gain weight:
1. Listening to music while eating
Music may be good for us while working out, but the effect is reversed when eating. It seems that listening to music when you have your meal leads to higher food intake. So, make sure you analyze your eating habits in (more…)

Have you ever found yourself at difficulty establishing when dieting is enough and you should get back to your regular lifestyle?
Many of us fear this moment, as this means that you have lost enough weight, and the next step follows: maintaining the right weight.
This may be more difficult than the diet itself.
So, many choose to stay on the diet indefinitely. However, you do need to stop dieting when the following signs appear:
It’s already six months since you’ve started your diet
Why should you stop after six months? Scientists claim that any (more…)

I’m realistic enough to admit that I usually sabotage myself when it comes to losing weight, be it when observing diet rules or working out regularly.
But what are the most common excuses we use in this respect and what can be done about them?
1. We’re too busy
This is the thing I hear most often from people who are trying to lose weight. If you have a job and, more than that, a family with several kids, then time is not on your side. However, something can be done about it, you just (more…)

Let me begin by saying this is not a complete guide to lose weight, it is rather to show you three simple methods to burn some calories without too much effort.
1. Laugh away your calories
Go ahead, dig out your funniest DVD and laugh as loud as you can! It might help you lose weight.
Vanderbilt University researchers put 45 pairs of friends in a special chamber that measured energy output, then showed them clips from comedy (more…)
