Get Motivation To Remain Active
Even though everyone knows the benefits of becoming more active and try to incorporate it into everyday life, we soon find ourselves sidetracked and falling off the workout wagon.
Everyone goes through this phase.
But here are tips that can keep help keep you going for longer.
1. Start simple
Start working out by making small, realistic changes that you see yourself sticking to. Taking on too much too soon, leaves you burnt out and in the case of exercise, might result in injury. You do not have to join a gym immediately if you feel you can’t afford it or you won’t have time to go.
Working out can start with simple things like taking the stairs instead of the lift, walking the dog for a little longer, etc. Nothing drastic. If you can afford to go to gym, take it easy. Don’t start with heavy weights if you’re strength training. Do not exercise everyday, have off days to give your body time to recover so you do not sustain injury.
2. Get inspiration
Get inspired by others that have managed to achieve your goal(s). Find pictures of your dream body online or in magazines and stick them in places where you can see them. Use it as your phone and computer screensaver. Catching a glimpse of that hot body you want can be the incentive you need to get off your lazy behind and get moving.
3. Become accountable
Make yourself accountable to someone else. Get a workout buddy. He/she will motivate you to workout and chances are you will feel too embarrassed to cancel scheduled workouts. If you have gym membership, join a class. You are likely to be encouraged to push yourself much harder to finish the class than if you are on your own.
Despite our good intentions to stay active and healthy, we all undergo slumps where we have no motivation to workout. Following these tips can help restore your enthusiasm to stay active and help you reach your body goals.
