We know that fad diets are the least healthy choices when it comes to weight loss.
Unfortunately people still choose them and risk serious health problems.
One of the major disadvantages of these diets is the yo-yo effect which makes people gain much more weight than they manage to lose.
In some cases people suffer from sever deficiencies and anemia which leads to failures of the organs in the worst scenarios.
However, the creators of the fad diets attract adepts through some unrealistic promises that desperate people actually believe to be true. Here are just some examples:
1. Lose up to 20 pounds in just one week. This cannot possibly be true. The explanation is actually very simple. Think about how much time you (more…)

I spend many hours at the office and when I get out from work in the evening I feel so tired that I don’t feel like going to the gym and work out for an hour.
Sounds familiar?
This is the story of many of us and it is the perfect excuse not to work out at all.
Add to that the fact that the weekend is so short to spend it not sleeping or going out with friends and you get the lazy dieter who keeps complaining about the extra pounds.
We’ve talked about some healthy office lunch options and some very interesting ways to lose weight even when we are at work, but there (more…)

Not that I don’t like them, because I love parties, but the temptations are high on these occasions.
We’ve already talked about how to avoid eating high calorie foods when we go out, but what can we do when we cannot choose the menu?
I am going to share with you some tricks that I find very helpful and that worked in my case. Maybe these can be of help for you too.
1. Choose to attend the social event for the fun and not for the food.

If I were isolated on an island and given the opportunity to take some things with me, coffee would be one of them.
Like many of you, I need this magnificent liquid to wake up in the morning.
Actually, coffee is one of the reasons I get out of the bed more cheerful, especially in the days I lack energy.
However, you must know that I don’t enjoy drinking plain coffee.
To me coffee is like a concert and its tune can be made more harmonious with some whole milk, granulated sugar or chocolate syrup. But what if you’re on a diet? Should you give up this delightful drink? Not really…
I have recently discovered some tasty coffee drinks that can have (more…)

We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
It gives us the necessary energy to start a long day full of things to do.
Skipping this meal will deprive our body of essential nutrients and will cause cravings, which usually lead to unhealthy snack choices.
Though many of us are aware of the multiple benefits of having breakfast, a reduced number of people actually make this meal a part of their day.
We are either too busy in the morning or simply cannot put anything in our mouth because we do not feel hungry. However, all these can (more…)

Turkey for Thanksgiving is a tradition that goes way back and we cannot ignore it.
Moreover, this is probably one of the healthiest dishes served on this occasion, so we must have it.
Many of us take a day off from our weight loss diet on Thanksgiving and enjoy a little bit of each of dishes on the table.
But what should we do with the leftovers?
Should we go back to our diet right the next day? No, this is not necessary. Thanksgiving turkey leftovers can be very healthy if eaten the right way.

I am always on the look for new gadgets that can help me stay healthy or in my fight against extra pounds.
Many of them are indeed useless or just something I don’t necessarily need, but some are really helpful.
So, when I first heard about the Hydracoach Intelligent Water Bottle I thought this was just another gadget that was a waste of money.
However, when I saw the price and read about it I changed my mind at least partially. First of all, the price is quite good for an intelligent bottle. It (more…)
