Spring Sports Alert: Outdoor Fun!

CoasteeringThank God is spring!

It’s time we venture outdoors and exercise while breathing fresh air and watch the nature at work.

Mountain board

How about some dirt boarding (aka “mountain board”)?

Based on the same simple principles, this sport is the dirty version of the good old snowboarding.

Put on your worst pair of jeans and a pair of boots and hop on a wood or metal board with big off-road wheels and slide on a purpose built track. Make sure you wear all the safety equipment.

Tree-top obstacle courses

Spring is also about green trees. There is no better time for tree courses! The tree-top obstacle courses specially customized for raw adventure should help you bond with the wilderness in no time. Climbing the forest canopy, swinging like an ape, with no worries are also great ways to burn calories.

Geocaching

Spring is also the best time to combine the outdoor workout with curiosity and fun. Geocaching is perhaps the newest addition on the cool outdoor sports list. It wisely combines the average workout like climbing, jumping and digging, with the intuition needed to find hidden trinkets, training the body and the mind.

Adventure races

Adventure races have revolutionized the outdoor concept. Gather a small team to challenge various disciplines, such as running, mountain hiking, swimming, cannoning, and abseiling in exciting locations, marked by checkpoints.

Rock climbing

Mountain lovers will definitely enjoy a rock climbing session. Such outdoor courses are designed to boost up your stamina and confidence. Experts say it can be addictive!

Mountain biking

If not, you could try some mountain biking. Who wouldn’t love some wheel-clogging mud on a countryside path in the spring?

Wizard walks

And if you know some old castle hidden in the maintains, you can always try the Wizard walks, some sort of more alert treasure hunt based on riddles, running and a lot of fun.

Swimming

Outdoor swimming is my favorite! The single thought of swimming with open sky above in the cold water strengthening every muscle makes me shiver. Make sure you take the plunges in secure places.

Coasteering

Coasteering is for beach sport lovers. While most of them wait for the spring to surf, pop a kite or for some water sport, the pros are doing the coasteering, which means: swimming, scrambling and jumping off cliffs into the sea, all in one.

All of these activities should help you exercise in the old fashioned way: outside, free and with your friends or family around.
