The Atkins Diet – my Review
The Atkins Diet is very controversial because ignores the most important principles of healthy eating. You should give up to vegetables, fruit, whole grain cereals and eat as much fats as possible. This is not an easy thing to do if you are a “fruit person” like I am or even if you are not, without the fibers, you could get into trouble.
Fibers are very important in your diet because they help the digest process, absorbs and then eliminates bacterial toxins in the intestine, speeds the excretion of gallstone-promoting bile and supports the immune system by crowding out harmful bacteria in the colon. If you decide to go with the Atkins Diet you must take fiber supplements!
The first 3-4 days (The Induction Phase of the diet) are the hardest, because that’s when the body enters the state of Ketosis. In this period I get frustrated, irritated, nervous, low in energy, all I want is to sleep all day and not hear about anybody or anything. If you get vitamins supplements you can pas this phase more easier. I also took some Omega-3 fatty acid supplements. Before you start Atkins, I suggest you to make some blood checks and tell your doctor about the diet.
If you are ok after Ketosis, the weight loss will come like a hurricane. You might lose even 10 pounds (5 kilos) in the first week. Men tend to lose more then women, but don’t worry, it will come.
Read Dr. Atkins Diet book to know all the aspects, get support and help to the official Atkins Diet site and start your weight loss.
So my opinion is this is not an easy diet and I think you have to be a little bit desperate to lose a lot of weight in a short term to try it. It sure works, but there could also be consequences if you don’t know what you’re doing.
